Quaker Oats Company chooses Ewart for the land site.  Ewart family declines to sell the land to them.

First building (besides the Ewart mansion) a residence, built by L. H. Harris, the pharmacist

Grinnell-Montezuma Railroad built in the fall.

By December the community takes on the name of Ewart.

Town of Ewart was platted in 1875 by three Ewart brothers: Robert, Matthew, and Robinson.

The first store, a general store, erected in the spring of by A. B. Woods; ten charter members start the Presbyterian Church, meeting in the depot of the railroad.

George T. Burns, a shoemaker, arrives in Ewart
