Every natural
being in the world has a pulse, rhythm, and pattern
expressed in a variety of ways. Music is but one
example. It is an integral component of human
existence that knows no boundaries of ethnic or
economic origin. It is, in fact, the international
language of choice that has the power to promote
peace in the global community. Music encourages
harmony among every living organism. It is the
ultimate gift from the Creator.
The focus of
music education deals with the whole person and the
integration of music into a significant place in
student life. Technical skills and music theory are
the building blocks of musicianship. Listening,
performing, practicing, and composing are a part of
this process. Self-discipline in study and practice,
poise for performances, ability to share and express
individual ideas result in a sense of self worth,
accomplishment, and independence. The ultimate
objective is to bring the mind, body, and soul to
one experience via music performance and communicate
that to the listener.
